ERIC LEARNS ABOUT MONEY

I Eric Coleman lived with his parents in Boston, USA, until he was 19 years old. Then he
got a job in a different city. So he left his parents' home and rented an apartment near his new
job. Eric was happy to live in his own apartment. However, when he first started to live there,
he had a problem.
5 II In Eric's old home, his parents paid all the bills*. In his new apartment, Eric had to pay
his own bills. But when his first bills arrived, Eric could not understand them. Sometimes he
could not even understand how much he had to pay.
III Then Eric heard about special classes at a college near his apartment. In these classes,
people can learn useful things that help them in their daily lives*. One of these classes was about
10 money. Eric went to that class every Wednesday evening for a month.
IV The class helped Eric a lot. "Now I understand all my bills," Eric says. "I also learned how
to save some of the money that I earn. I'm very happy that I went to the class. I tell all of my
friends that they should go to it, too."
