A NEW WAY TO USE MUSHROOMS

I Mushrooms are a popular food. People can eat
them in many different ways. For example, many people
put them on pizza or make soup with them. But now there
is a surprising new way to use mushrooms. Today, there
5 are companies that use mushrooms to make a new type of
leather*. They call it "mushroom leather."
II Usually, leather comes from the skins of animals.
But there is a problem. To make this leather, companies
must use chemicals* that are bad for the environment.
10 Animal leather is also a problem for vegetarians. They don't eat meat, and they don't want to use
animal skins for shoes or other products. So they like the idea of mushroom leather.
III Some companies are now using mushroom leather to make bags. There is also a company
that plans to use mushroom leather to make shoes. These companies believe that their products will
be very popular because they are good for animals and are also good for the environment.
